Why did Elemental get such bad reviews? ›

Elemental is a movie that just doesn't stick out. Pixar made this one a unoriginal story of opposites attacting and families and community not wanting them together. Not much was stuff hadn't seen before. One of the things that did stick out to me was the animation.

If 60% of reviews are positive, the movie is given a “Fresh” status, but if positive reviews fall below that benchmark, it is deemed “Rotten.” A popular piece of media will typically fall between the 70-90% range, but rarely, a project will receive a 100% score. This means every last review from critics was positive.

Elemental is the perfect metaphor for Leftist views of diversity. Here you have a mostly peaceful and cohesive society filled with a diverse group of people from completely different backgrounds and cultures.

Elemental has several obvious glaring problems. For one thing, the attempt to make the elements' differences an overt metaphor for race/culture is shallow and misplaced at best most of the time. The story's themes and plot itself are about as worn-out and tired as the art of the story itself.

Little by little, however, the $200 million film became a hit, collecting nearly $500 million worldwide. For the year to date, “Elemental” ranks No. 9 on the list of top-grossing films, ahead of Marvel's latest “Ant-Man” sequel.

If you are looking for a feel-good film suitable for the entire family that leaves you with something to think about in terms of visuals and message, Elemental is definitely a Pixar film worth watching.

The movie starts with the fire people landing in element city and having their names changed because they aren't pronounceable by the majority. No one will rent housing to the fire people.

Elemental Has A Broad Message For Everyone

Elemental illuminates how these differences between people, if not discussed, can become barriers that only serve to keep one group from learning about the other. The different elements in Element City have preconceived notions about one another.

If you were to just review all the advertisem*nts, Elemental bears a striking resemblance to Zootopia, and audiences probably just thought they were going to be spoon-fed the same tolerance metaphor again by the same studio, with humanized elements instead of animals.

“Disney Pixar's latest film Elemental has a non-binary character who has a girlfriend and uses they/them pronouns. They just can't stop shoving this down kids' throats can they?” one irrationally angry Twitter user wrote, before claiming that the “animators were smoking crack” in designing Lake.

Parents need to know that Pixar's Elemental is a beautifully animated fable about the immigrant experience. It's set in Element City, where fire, earth, water, and air people coexist, but fire people are mistreated and discriminated against.
