The official logline of The Hunting reads,

"A high-concept crime procedural about a small team of investigators who are assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers our country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist."

The teaser released for The Hunting sets the tone of the show by introducing The Pit, a secret government prison where the deadliest of criminals are held.

However, things change when there’s an explosion, and as a result, a number of the criminals escape, and some die inside the prison. As the situation gets out of control and the knowledge of the prison’s existence threatens to become a public affair, a team of highly trained professionals comes in to handle the whole thing.
